Literature Review Paper & Multi-Modal Translation
The Literature Review Paper was the final essay for the class, and it brought together everything I’ve been working on in terms of drafting and field research. For this essay, I’ll be writing a 6-8 page (1500-2000 word) narrative argument on a social, political, economic, or cultural issue of my choice. The main goal is to explore the existing scholarly research on my topic, then compare, contrast, and identify any gaps in the research. I’ll need to come up with a research question that serves as the foundation for my work and incorporate at least 5 scholarly sources to support my analysis. This essay is all about digging deeper into the topic, understanding the current body of knowledge, and contributing my own insights based on the research.
step 1 Annotated Bibliography
This document organizes the three most relevant scholarly sources for my topic on gun violence. Each source is followed by a paragraph that summarizes the key points of the source and explains its significance to my essay. The goal of this document is to clearly outline how each source contributes to the understanding of gun violence and supports the arguments I will make in my literature review. By analyzing these sources, I aim to build a strong foundation for my research and highlight the existing scholarly perspectives on the topic.
step 2 Literature Review Paper
The final version of my Literature Review Paper includes several key sections. It starts with an abstract, which gives a brief overview of my topic, research question, and main findings. The introduction sets up the context for my research, explaining the importance of the issue I’m exploring, which in this case is gun violence. In the summary of findings, I present a clear summary of the main research and findings from the scholarly sources I reviewed. Next, the discussion and evaluation section analyzes and compares the different perspectives from my sources, highlighting gaps or areas where the research is lacking. The conclusion wraps everything up by summarizing my main points and offering insights or recommendations based on my findings. Finally, the paper includes a self-reflection page, where I reflect on my process, what I learned from writing the paper, and how my understanding of the topic evolved. This section gives a more personal touch to the paper and provides insight into my learning journey throughout the research process.
step 3 Multi-Modal Translation
This piece was a presentation of my literature review in a new format. I took the most important points from my literature review and condensed them into smaller, more digestible pieces that I could present to an audience. The key goal of this assignment was to find a fresh way to communicate my research and keep the audience engaged while still conveying the core message. I had to think creatively about how to make the material interesting and accessible, so the audience could follow along and connect with the topic, rather than just reading through a paper. The challenge was balancing the depth of my research with an engaging presentation style that would hold people’s attention.
